SCHS hosts Para Taekwondo tests for players locally

Sharjah 24: Al Wafa School for Capacity Development (Ramla branch), which is an affiliate of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), hosted 26 contenders with disabilities who participated in the Para Taekwondo tests for United Arab Emirates as part of their rehabilitation for Para Taekwondo sport. The school organised these tests in cooperation with Dubai Police Academy.
The tests took place face-to-face and remotely in the presence of four experts and referees from the Emirates Taekwondo Federation, the Asian Federation, the International Federation, and an international expert. In addition to the trainer at Al Wafa School for Capacity Development.

Mr. Abdel Nasser Darwish, Deputy Director of Al-Wafa School for Capacity Development (Ramla Branch), has confirmed that the aim of the tests is to upgrade the belts of players in Para Taekwondo who have performed well in the tests.

Moreover, SCHS honored the winners of the Arab Para Taekwondo Championship held in June 2020, in which nine students from Al Wafa School for Capacity Development achieved advanced ranks. For example, player Mona Reda won fourth place.

Her Excellency Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, chaired the Para Taekwondo Board of Directors in 2017.  In addition to her membership in the International Taekwondo Council in recognition of SCHS leadership in advocating, including and empowering persons with disabilities in all fields, including sports.

Para Taekwondo contributes to supporting the comprehensive integration of athletes with disabilities, and provides opportunities for them to participate in tournaments, in line with their abilities and capabilities. It is the duty of society to encourage the sport of persons with disabilities in general, not only on special occasions, but also on an ongoing basis, in order to achieve the desired results in all fields.
