Sharjah 24: Sharjah Municipality (SM) announced the completion of cleaning work for rainwater drainage holes, as part of the preparation for the rainy season, stating that it has provided the teams and equipment necessary to clean all rainwater drainage holes in all areas of Sharjah.
In this context, His Excellency Thabet Al Tarifi, Director General of SM and Head of the Rain Emergency Committee, stressed that SM is keen every year before the winter season to take the necessary precautions and provide tools and equipment to withdraw water in areas where there are no drainage holes. In addition to the presence of emergency teams for any weather situation to deal with emergency cases immediately in a way that enhances the flow of traffic.
For his part, Hassan Al Tefaq, Assistant Director General for the Agriculture and Environment Sector, indicated that SM has completed all cleaning and maintenance work of rainwater drainage holes in various streets and squares of the city of Sharjah, as part of its plans to prepare for the rainy season by cleaning about 11,000 drainage holes per week.
The campaign continues until the end of the rainy season to avoid the accumulation of dirt, dust, and other gathered liquids or material in the drainage holes, and to ensure the smooth running of its work and its effectiveness as necessary during rain.
Al Tefaq noted that SM will provide emergency teams and all the necessary equipment and tools in areas that do not have water drainage holes to deal with all reports, and to communicate with the concerned authorities to combine efforts and quickly deal with various cases.
