Sharjah 24: Sharjah Civil Defence (SCD) teams managed to control a fire that broke out, on Saturday, in a warehouse for storing auto parts, in the industrial area number 6. The teams dealt with the incident professionally and efficiently, and were able to put out the fire within half an hour of its outbreak, without any injuries.
In a statement to "Sharjah 24", Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, said: "A call was received by the operations room of the Sharjah Civil Defence, at 4:06 PM, stating that there was a fire in the industrial area number 6. Immediately rescue teams moved from Samnan Centre, Al Minaa, and Muwailih, to the scene of the accident and was able to control the fire in a record time, estimated at half an hour since receiving the report. The competent authorities conducted an investigation into the accident to find out its causes".
Colonel Sami Al Naqbi called on all owners of warehouses, companies and industrial establishments, to adhere to safety standards and fire prevention, and to ensure that fire extinguishers work properly, and that exits must be clearly distinguished and free of stored materials, stressing the importance of training workers in industrial facilities on how to fight fires through occupational health and safety programmes.
