Sharjah 24: The local emergency and crisis team in the Emirate of Sharjah, announced new measures to help address the "Covid-19" pandemic at the level of the emirate, in accordance with the directives issued by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority in the country, in order to intensify preventive measures to contain infection and limit the spread of the virus.
The public transport will operate at 50% seating capacity, commercial centres at 60%, cinemas and activities and entertainment events inside closed halls at 50%, gyms at 50%, beaches and parks at 70%, swimming pools and private beaches in hotel facilities at 50%. Concerts and parties are suspended for a period of 4 weeks, which can be extended according to developments of the situation.

The activities of restaurants and cafes have also been limited to a capacity of not more than 4 persons at one table, with the exception of members of the same family, while service providers are required to conduct the examination every two weeks, with the exception of those vaccinated within the national vaccination programme and volunteers in clinical trials of Covid-19 vaccines.

Adherence to the number of people at marriage ceremonies and family events should not exceed 10 persons, and 20 in funerals.

With regard to employees of governmental and semi-governmental institutions in the emirate, those who come to work places must conduct a weekly nasal swab test (PCR), while service providers in the private sector must perform a nasal swab test (PCR) every two weeks; those vaccinated within the national vaccination programme and volunteers in clinical trials of Covid-19 vaccines are exempted.

The local emergency and crisis team recommended intensifying inspection and monitoring campaigns in all sectors to ensure compliance with the strict implementation of the national protocols for prevention and precautionary measures, foremost of which is commitment to social distancing and wearing masks, and transferring violators to the Public Prosecutor according to the approved laws.

The Executive Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management in Sharjah called on all members of society to adhere to the instructions and precautionary measures, which are a key factor in preserving the safety of society. It warned that it will be highly strict with violators.
