We designed this adjustment to enhance service for residents with seasonal parking subscriptions and improve access for customers and visitors to businesses in these areas. Public parking areas will remain in operation from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with adjusted hours during Ramadan applicable to all zones.
Hamid Al Qaid, Director of the Public Parking Department at Sharjah City Municipality, articulated that Sharjah's expansion in tourism, trade, and residential sectors enhances its global attractiveness. In line with this extensive development, the municipality is introducing paid parking to guarantee availability, enhance organisation, and mitigate problems, such as the improper use or abuse of parking spaces.
This adjustment is an integral component of the municipality's comprehensive approach to overseeing and controlling public parking in vital areas of the city, especially in zones with high demand.
Al Qaid also emphasised that Sharjah City Municipality has created an annual strategic plan to improve regulated paid parking facilities throughout the city. As of early 2024, the municipality has introduced fees for 16,000 new parking spots, increasing the total number of paid public parking spaces to 86,000 throughout Sharjah.
The municipality continuously improves parking availability and accessibility throughout Sharjah's vibrant urban environment in order to meet residents' needs and increase convenience.
