The session was held by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage's Dibba Al Hisn branch and moderated by Dr Ahmed Jumaa Al Hindasi, with the participation of Jumaa bin Thalith and storyteller Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Tunaiji, who revisited fragments of the city's maritime memory, recounting a number of old sea chants and songs once sung by seafarers during their voyages and maritime work.
The session drew a number of government department employees from Dibba Al Hisn, alongside residents of the city, with notable engagement around themes that revived details of the local maritime and cultural heritage.
The event included interactive workshops presented by the Sharjah Maritime Museum, alongside a display of maritime heritage artefacts and tools once used by seafarers, offering a vivid picture of the nature and vocabulary of maritime life.
The session was accompanied by a photography exhibition featuring the work of visual artist Abdullah Al Dhahouri, covering scenes and features associated with the maritime environment and local heritage.
At the close of the session, Hind Al Awani, Director of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage's Dibba Al Hisn branch, honoured all participants in recognition of their contributions to enriching the dialogue and highlighting the maritime and cultural heritage of Dibba Al Hisn's residents, as well as strengthening the presence of popular memory in the cultural and heritage scene.
