American Taylor Fritz, ranked ninth in the world, won his first ATP title of 2026, defeating 19-year-old Spaniard Rafael Khodar 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in the final of the Washington Open, which had been postponed due to rain.

First title of the season

Frittz, the third seed in the 500-point hard-court tournament, needed five match points to overcome his young opponent and claim his eleventh career title, his first since winning in Eastbourne, England, last year.
