The quake was centered at the Campi Flegrei area, according to Italy's Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology (INGV). This region, which is the site of Europe's largest volcanic crater, is home to frequent seismic activity. INGV reported that the quake occurred at 7:46 pm (1746 GMT) and had a shallow depth of three kilometers.
Firefighters stated they received reports of stuck elevators and small chunks of plaster falling, but no immediate requests for assistance. The city of Naples confirmed that a high-voltage pylon supplying electricity to the city had collapsed, though backup power was successfully restored to affected areas. Power cuts affected some parts of the city, with emergency workers deployed on-site to handle repairs.
