Turkey's disaster relief agency, AFAD, reported that three of the tremors struck during the early afternoon, followed by two more in the evening. Four of the quakes centered on the Saimbeyli district in Adana province: a 4.8-magnitude tremor at 2:19 p.m. (11:19 GMT), a 4.9-magnitude quake at 2:36 p.m., a 4.4-magnitude tremor at 7:00 p.m., and a 4.3-magnitude quake at 8:28 p.m. Additionally, a 5.2-magnitude tremor struck the Sumbas district, situated about 80 kilometers further south, at 2:43 p.m.
In Syria, the national earthquake center stated via Telegram that all five tremors were felt in northern regions, though no casualties or damage were recorded. The affected zones lie approximately 150 kilometers (90 miles) from the epicenter of the catastrophic February 2023 earthquakes, which claimed the lives of at least 53,000 people in Turkey and around 6,000 in Syria. Turkey remains highly prone to seismic activity due to multiple major geological fault lines intersecting the country.
