Sharjah 24: Emirati karate player Reda Masoudi has secured a silver medal for the UAE national team in the men’s kumite under-84 kg category at the Asian Karate Championships in Bali, Indonesia.

Strong path to the final with key victories

Masoudi delivered an impressive technical performance throughout the tournament to reach the final. He launched his campaign with a 5-3 win over Kuwait’s Mohammed Hassan, followed by a dominant 4-0 victory against Japan’s Rikito Shimada. He then clinched his spot in the final by edging out Kazakhstan’s Nikita Tarnaikin 4-3 in a hard-fought semifinal. In the gold-medal match, Masoudi put up a strong fight but ultimately fell to Jordan’s Mohammad Al-Jaafari, the world’s top-ranked athlete in the category.

UAE Karate Federation praises continental achievement

The landmark continental achievement drew high praise from the UAE Karate Federation. Rashid Abdulmajid Al Ali—First Vice President of the UAE Karate Federation, Vice President of the Asian Karate Federation, and Executive Committee member of the World Karate Federation—emphasized that the silver medal is the direct result of the federation’s rigorous preparation and technical training programs. Al Ali commended Masoudi for overcoming some of the continent’s elite competitors, noting that the achievement reflects the steady growth and rising competitive standard of Emirati karate on the international stage.
