The safety campaign impacts Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models from the 2021–2025 model years. The issue stems from an electrical connection defect within the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring harness, which can overheat and, in rare instances, ignite a fire.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated it is aware of at least 72 reports of fires and one reported injury connected to the defect. The formal investigation into the matter began in 2024 following initial concerns that the electrical components could overheat, even when the vehicles were turned off and parked.
Stellantis announced that dealerships will inspect the affected vehicles and, if necessary, repair or replace the compromised wiring and related components. The company anticipates that the repair solution will be ready by July. The recall encompasses vehicles distributed across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and various international markets.
