Sharjah 24 – WAM: The World Health Organization has confirmed 471 Ebola cases, including 84 deaths, across Central Africa amid concerns about the outbreak spreading further.

Democratic Republic of the Congo worst affected

The agency said the Democratic Republic of the Congo accounts for 452 cases and 82 deaths, while Uganda has reported 19 cases and two deaths.

Warning over potential wider spread

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned the outbreak could escalate to levels seen during the 2014–2016 West Africa Ebola epidemic if strict containment measures are not enforced.
