The visiting delegation comprised Luca Pigozzi, Acting Head of the WHO Gaza Sub-Office; Roy Cosico, Technical Officer for Emergency Medical Teams at WHO headquarters; and Heba Al Najjar, WHO Emergency Medical Teams Coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territory.
The international officials were received by Ali Al Shehhi, Head of the UAE Mission in Gaza under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 and Director of the UAE field hospital. Al Shehhi provided a comprehensive briefing detailing the extensive surgical, specialized, and therapeutic treatments delivered to injured and sick patients, alongside the broader medical aid distributed to hospitals throughout the Gaza Strip.
During their assessment, the WHO delegation toured the facility's specialized departments, inspecting the clinical infrastructure and observing the field medical teams working to alleviate patient suffering. The delegation highly commended the UAE’s robust humanitarian commitments and praised the field hospital's critical role in delivering emergency care to casualties in Gaza.
Reaffirming the nation's ongoing solidarity, Al Shehhi emphasized that the UAE remains dedicated to reinforcing Gaza's healthcare network and sustaining humanitarian relief for the Palestinian population. To date, the collective efforts of the UAE field hospital in Rafah and the Emirates Medical Centre for Primary Care in Al Mawasi, Khan Younis, have extended essential medical treatment to approximately 97,000 patients across the Gaza Strip.
