Sharjah24: Sharjah Police (SP) arrested a promoter who was found in possession of 18,670 pieces of fireworks without legal authorisation and was using his vehicle to distribute them.

The arrest followed intensive monitoring and investigations by specialised teams, which led to identifying the storage location, seizing the quantities, and securing them in accordance with approved legal procedures, pending further legal action.

The operation forms part of Sharjah Police’s ongoing efforts to combat practices that threaten community safety, particularly the illegal trade and use of fireworks, which carry risks of serious injury, fires, material losses, and disturbances to public order.

Colonel Dr Khalifa Balhai, Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation at Sharjah Police, stressed that irresponsible use of fireworks causes panic and anxiety among community members, particularly children and the elderly, due to sudden, loud noises that disrupt residential areas. He affirmed that safeguarding community security and stability remains a top priority.

He added that Sharjah Police continues to conduct inspection campaigns in coordination with relevant authorities as part of a sustained plan to curb such violations. Parents were urged to strengthen supervision and raise awareness among children of the legal and health risks associated with fireworks.

Sharjah Police also urged the public to reject such practices and report any suspicious activity via 901 to support security efforts and maintain a safe and stable environment across the emirate.
