With pulsating beats, glowing props, and a seamless blend of sport and street dance, the Rome-based troupe transformed the morning into a mesmerising spectacle. The performers used ping pong bats, LED-lit balls, basketballs, and even lightsabres, synchronising their movements to create a futuristic fusion of athleticism and choreography. Their 30-minute performance had young spectators cheering, dancing, and clapping with excitement.
A compelling message appeared at the end: ‘In a world of light, sound, and code, power is not in the system — but in connection.”
“We dance with table tennis rackets and ping pong balls, blending bounce and rhythm,” said Patrizio Ratto, choreography director and co-founder of Ping Pong Pang. “But this show goes further — we wanted to build new worlds of sport, light, and imagination, creating a performance that fully immerses the crowd.”
Children in the audience described the show as a “real-life video game,” mesmerised by the lights, music, and rapid coordination. “I never thought ping pong could look this cool,” said Zayed, a Year 5 student from Sharjah.
Founded in 2022, Ping Pong Pang quickly gained international recognition after receiving the Golden Buzzer on Italia’s Got Talent 2023 and later performing on Britain’s Got Talent 2025. They also represented Italy at the World University Games in Turin, becoming the first Italian team to win a silver medal at the World University Games.
Their SIBF debut received thunderous applause, with children mimicking dance moves and waving imaginary lightsabers in the air. “The energy of the kids here was incredible,” said co-founder Rachele Ratto. “Their joy made this show truly special.”
Ping Pong Pang will continue their lively performances at the Outdoor Theatre until 14 November, adding to the diverse range of live shows and cultural experiences under SIBF’s theme ‘Between You and a Book’, organised by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) until 16 November.
