Led by Lebanese artist and filmmaker Sara Mezher, a long-standing organiser of the SIBF workshop, the session quickly became a dazzling celebration of creativity. Children freely explored colour combinations, textures, and decorative details — from sparkling belts to puffed shoulders and shimmering hair.
Eleven-year-old Hibah chose gold and purple for her dress design, adding a bright green belt to make it “stand out.” Beside her, Laura, also eleven, carefully applied glitter beyond the sketch lines to create dramatic, couture-style shoulders. Ten-year-old Jasmine took a creative turn by giving her model golden hair, inspiring others to do the same.
Sara described the workshop as “glitter couture,” saying, “Girls — and boys — love to express themselves through colour and sparkle. No two designs are ever alike, and that’s what makes this workshop magical.”
Beyond artistic expression, the workshop promoted teamwork, communication, and confidence. Sara observed that once children start working with the materials, even the shyest participants open up, share supplies, exchange ideas, and collaborate naturally.
The couture fashion workshop is among many interactive sessions at SIBF 2025, demonstrating the fair’s commitment to nurturing creativity in all its forms. Combining literature, art, practical learning, and cultural discovery, this year’s edition continues to offer young visitors memorable opportunities for growth and enjoyment.
