Sharjah 24 – AFP: US President Donald Trump stated during a White House dinner with leaders from Central Asian countries that he expects an international stabilisation force to be deployed in Gaza "very soon."

Purpose of the force

Trump explained that the multinational force is intended to train vetted Palestinian police officers in the Gaza Strip, with support from Egypt and Jordan. The force will also be responsible for securing border areas and preventing weapons smuggling to Hamas.

Multinational composition and role

The force is likely to include troops from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, forming part of Trump’s broader plan to end the war in Gaza.

Background and ceasefire

The plan contributed to brokering a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas on October 10, though the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues.

Trump’s remarks at the White House

During the dinner, Trump affirmed, "It will happen very soon. And things in Gaza are going very well," noting that several countries have volunteered to assist if problems arise with Hamas.
