White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump’s attendance will mark the conclusion of what she described as a historic World Cup hosted by the United States, adding that he will also attend a FIFA reception at Trump Tower in New York on Friday.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino had previously said Trump would attend the final, but the White House confirmation came on Thursday. The President’s involvement in the tournament has already drawn attention, including his request to review a suspension involving US striker Folarin Balogun.

Trump has also highlighted his role in securing the 2026 World Cup hosting rights for the US, Canada, and Mexico during his first term. His upcoming trophy presentation follows his appearance at last year’s Club World Cup final in New Jersey, where he presented the trophy to Chelsea after their victory.
