Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Endowments has announced the expansion of its community initiative “Aqrab,” which is part of the “Saqiyat Al Maa” (Water Endowment) project. The initiative offers free cold water and beverages to the public during the summer months, fostering compassion, generosity, and community well-being across the Emirate.

New distribution points added

As part of the expansion, new distribution points have been established at the Kshisha and Shaghrafa parks in the Al Rahmaniya area. These locations join the existing sites already covered by the initiative, including Al Mahatta Park, Muwailih Park, Wasit Wetland Reserve Walkway, and Al Qarayen Walkway.

Encouraging healthy habits and community spirit

Launched earlier across several public parks and walkways, the Aqrab initiative aims to provide cold water to residents and visitors, especially those using public facilities and open spaces. The initiative promotes healthy lifestyles and outdoor activities, while reflecting the Department’s efforts to integrate endowment projects into the fabric of daily community life.

A sustainable charitable initiative

The Saqiyat Al Maa project stands as one of the Department’s foremost endowment initiatives, renowned for its strong humanitarian and social aspects. It not only provides an essential public service but also boosts community engagement through collaboration with the Sharjah Volunteer Centre and various organisations across the emirate.

Future expansion plans

The Department of Endowments reaffirmed its commitment to further expanding the Aqrab initiative to cover more areas in the future, ensuring it meets public needs and continues to embody the principles of generosity and sustainable giving that underpin Sharjah’s endowment projects.
