The session, chaired by Omar Al Mulla, Chief Officer – Investment at Sharjah Asset Management, brought together senior officials and experts from both institutions, including representatives from Sharjah Taxi and the Board of Trustees of the Emirates Researchers Centre. Discussions centred on utilising applied research to strengthen investment strategies, improve the business environment, and align with Sharjah’s aim of fostering a dynamic, research-led investment ecosystem.
During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to strengthen partnerships in sustainable investment and applied research, emphasising the importance of knowledge transfer between academic and economic sectors. The discussion examined initiatives that support data-driven investment decisions, promote innovation in development projects, and anticipate future financial opportunities, ensuring alignment with Sharjah’s integrated development strategy based on science and innovation.
Omar Al Mulla emphasised the significance of research collaboration in strengthening the emirate’s investment framework. He stated that cooperation with the Emirates Researchers Centre is fundamental to Sharjah Asset Management’s strategy of forming partnerships that link research with practical economic outcomes. This approach, he noted, connects scientific knowledge and investment practices to generate sustainable, high-impact projects that foster long-term growth.
“Innovation driven by research is vital to achieving competitive excellence and reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a regional hub for sustainable investment,” said Al Mulla.
Representatives from the Emirates Researchers Centre affirmed the significance of scientific research in supporting economic policy and decision-making.
Dr Fawaz Habbal, Secretary General of the Centre, underscored that research plays a pivotal role in building the UAE’s knowledge-based economy by providing scientific and practical solutions for investment and development.
Dr Youssef Al Ali, Member of the Board of Trustees, added that expanding applied research partnerships between academic and investment institutions will strengthen innovation and evidence-based strategies that promote sustainable growth across Sharjah and the wider UAE.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to advance joint initiatives and applied studies that link research outcomes with economic implementation. The ongoing coordination aims to reinforce Sharjah’s commitment to integrating science, investment, and innovation, enabling informed decision-making and sustainable progress across all sectors of the emirate’s economy.
