The press conference was attended by several government department directors and representatives. Al Hosani confirmed that the race will kick off on October 25 as part of the Silver Jubilee of the Sir Bu Nair Festival 2025.
Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, Ahmed Issa Al Hosani stated that the race is organised for the 60-foot category, with the participation of more than 60 dhows and over 1,200 sailors. He pointed to the great demand for registration from various teams. The race route extends from Sir Bu Nair Island to the finish line off the same island, an estimated distance of approximately 25 nautical miles. The final course will be based on wind speed and wave conditions on race day, ensuring fair competition and a safe marine experience for participants.
The Director General of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club explained that the organising committee has allocated prizes exceeding AED 3,000,000 to be distributed among all competitors. The top three winners will be honoured at the conclusion of the Sir Bu Nair Festival. The race aims to revive maritime heritage and enhance the presence of traditional sports on the national events agenda.
