Sharjah 24: In a landmark achievement reflecting its commitment to enhancing quality of life and community wellbeing, seven buildings under the General Command of Sharjah Police (SP) have been honoured as “Age-Friendly Facilities”. This recognition came through the Age-Friendly Institutions Award, organised by the strategic partner, the Social Services Department.

This accomplishment crowns a sustained trajectory of distinguished work and institutional leadership, positioning Sharjah Police as the leading authority in the emirate to receive this accolade. It highlights the organisation's dedication to applying standards that support a comprehensive quality of life for all community segments, particularly senior citizens, and consolidates its pioneering role in sustainable social and humanitarian services.

Recognition at the Seniors’ Forum

The award was presented during the Seniors’ Forum, held under the theme “Renewed Giving… Leadership That Endures”. The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, along with senior officials and representatives from various government departments.

Supporting “Sharjah: An Age-Friendly City”

This achievement forms part of Sharjah Police’s ongoing contributions to the “Sharjah: Age-Friendly City” initiative, translating its strategy into actionable projects. By adopting age-friendly standards, the organisation has created a safe, supportive, and seamless service environment that ensures senior citizens can access police facilities comfortably and securely.

The seven facilities recognised for their age-friendly standards include the Traffic and Licensing Services Centre, the Eastern Region Police Directorate, the Wasit Police Station, the Industrial Area Police Station, the Western Region Police Station, the Al Madam Police Station, and the Kalba Police Station. Each facility demonstrated a commitment to accommodating seniors’ needs, facilitating easy access to services, and providing a comprehensive service experience that enhances wellbeing and life quality.

Passion for excellence and community welfare

Brigadier General Dr Ali Bu Al-Zoud, Director General of the General Directorate of Resources and Supporting Services, stressed that the recognition is a source of pride for the Sharjah Police and reflects its steadfast commitment to providing a safe, senior-friendly environment across its facilities.

He added that this distinction highlights Sharjah Police’s efforts in fostering a fully integrated service environment, allowing senior citizens to access services easily and securely. It reflects the organization’s dedication to implementing best practices that enhance quality of life, reinforces its leadership in institutional competitiveness, and supports Sharjah’s position as an age-friendly city that sustains community well-being and happiness.
