Capitalising on Real Madrid’s slip

The reigning champions came from behind for the second match in a row to secure victory at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc. The win was crucial after Real Madrid’s 5-2 defeat to city rivals Atlético on Saturday, opening the door for Barcelona to move into first place. With this result, Barça climbed to 19 points, one ahead of Real, while Real Sociedad continued their struggles with just five points from a possible 21, sitting 17th.

Comeback victory

Barcelona fell behind in the 31st minute when Álvaro Odriozola put Sociedad ahead. However, French defender Jules Koundé equalized two minutes before halftime.

Lewandowski strikes again

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski sealed the comeback in the 59th minute, converting a superb pass from teenage star Lamine Yamal, who returned to action after missing four matches through injury. The scenario echoed their sixth-round clash, where Barcelona overturned a deficit to beat Real Oviedo 3-1.
