The 18-year-old international initially arrived at Barcelona on loan from Al Ahly during the winter transfer window, a deal that included an option to purchase at the end of the campaign. Abdelkarim made an immediate impact, netting six goals in 11 appearances for the club's under-19 team.

"FC Barcelona has informed Al Ahly that it is exercising its purchase option for Hamza Abdelkarim," the club statement confirmed. "The Egyptian forward will join the club on a permanent basis and will sign a contract for the next three seasons, until 30 June 2029."

Abdelkarim is currently away on international duty representing Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, where he has already featured in his national team's opening fixtures against Belgium and New Zealand.
