Barcelona crushes Real Oviedo in La Liga

From setback to comeback

The defending champions, Barcelona, overturned an early deficit into a hard-fought 3-1 victory against their hosts, Real Oviedo.

Alberto Reina opened the scoring for Oviedo in the 33rd minute after a major blunder by goalkeeper Joan Garcia, giving the home side a surprising advantage.

Barcelona’s response

Barcelona rose to the challenge in the second half. Eric Garcia equalised in the 56th minute, before substitute Robert Lewandowski put the visitors ahead in the 70th. The Catalan side then sealed the win through Ronald Araújo, who added a third goal in the 88th minute to complete the comeback.

Maintaining an unbeaten record

Despite the absence of their young star Lamine Yamal, Barcelona extended their unbeaten run in the league. The victory lifted their tally to 16 points from five wins and one draw, keeping them just two points behind arch-rivals Real Madrid at the top of the standings.

Oviedo’s struggles continue

On the other hand, Real Oviedo remained stuck at only three points, ranking eighteenth in the table with just a single win from six matches, underlining the challenges they face this season.
