Sharjah24 - AFP: A new public park featuring bronze sculptures by Pablo Picasso will open in central Paris in 2030, with free entry, according to Cécile Debray, head of the city’s Picasso Museum.

A first-of-Its-kind open-air museum

Covering an area equivalent to two Olympic-size swimming pools, the garden will extend the museum grounds and host around a dozen sculptures, including Picasso’s 1950 life-sized bronze The She-Goat. While New York and Chicago already display Picasso works in public, this will be the first open-air museum entirely dedicated to the artist.

Backed by city and family

The initiative, supported by Paris city authorities and the French culture ministry, was developed in collaboration with the Picasso family, particularly his daughter Paloma. She described the project as “full of life—like my father,” calling it a beautiful tribute to the artist’s deep ties to Paris.

A cultural oasis in the city

Debray said the park will merge the museum’s rear garden with a neighboring public park, creating a “magical” space where visitors can interact with artworks, enjoy nature, and relax at a new café-restaurant overlooking the sculptures.

Expanding the Picasso Museum

As the museum marks its 40th anniversary, it also plans a new wing to double space for temporary exhibitions. Together with the sculpture park, the expansions will cost about €50 million ($60 million), financed through corporate sponsors and the Picasso family.
