Abdulhamid Al Baloushi honoured at Kalba Short Plays Festival

Sharjah24: Honoured as the Personality of the 12th edition of the Kalba Short Plays Festival, artist Abdulhamid Al Baloushi expressed his deep gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his unwavering support of theatre and theatre practitioners.

A Journey of nearly four decades

Al Baloushi described the recognition as the culmination of a 39-year artistic journey during which he presented numerous initiatives that enriched the theatrical movement.

Sharjah Ruler’s inspiring role

He emphasised that the continuous encouragement he has received from the Ruler of Sharjah has been the greatest motivation for him to pursue his theatrical career, noting that His Highness remains the strongest supporter of theatre in Sharjah, the UAE, and across the Arab world.

Recognition beyond the individual

Speaking to Sharjah 24, Al Baloushi stressed that this honour is not only for him personally but for all artists, theatre professionals, and members of the cultural community. He praised the Department of Culture and the festival organisers for their role in nurturing talent, sharpening skills, and serving the theatrical arts. He wished them continued success in elevating the “father of the arts.”
