Al Wasl secures first three points
The win gives Al Wasl three points to start their group stage, while Esteghlal remains at zero after the opening round.
Al Wasl’s dominant performance
Al Wasl's scoring was led by Fabio Lima, who netted twice—once in the 7th minute and again in the 57th minute from the penalty spot. Nicolas Jimenez scored in the 12th minute, followed by Pedro Malor in the 41st minute. Renato Junio added two more goals in the 71st and 90+1 minutes, and Sofiane Bouvini scored in the 84th minute to cap off the dominant display.
Esteghlal’s consolation goal
Esteghlal’s only goal came in the 45th minute through Rouzbeh Cheshmi, but it did little to shift the momentum as Al Wasl maintained control throughout the match.
