Sharjah Chamber, Malaysia discuss private sector ties

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) held discussions with the Malaysian Embassy to strengthen economic ties and facilitate the entry of Sharjah-based businesses into the Malaysian market, promoting bilateral investment and business expansion.

High-level meeting at SCCI headquarters

The meeting took place at the SCCI headquarters, where H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, welcomed His Excellency Tengku Sirajuzzaman Bin Tengku Mohamed Ariffin, Ambassador of Malaysia to the UAE, along with his accompanying delegation. Key SCCI officials, including Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi and Dr Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, also attended.

Expanding business and investment opportunities

Both sides explored mechanisms to enhance private sector partnerships and broaden cooperation between Emirati and Malaysian business communities. Discussions centered on the opportunities arising from the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and Malaysia, which offers new prospects for trade and investment.

Invitation to upcoming trade exhibition

The Sharjah Chamber extended an invitation to the Malaysian Ambassador to attend the upcoming Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show at Expo Centre Sharjah, emphasizing the importance of such platforms in fostering direct engagement between entrepreneurs from both countries.

UAE-Malaysia trade growth highlighted

His Excellency Al Owais noted the robust growth in UAE-Malaysia trade relations, with non-oil trade reaching USD 3.3 billion in H1 2025, marking a 30.9% increase over the same period in 2024. He reaffirmed the Sharjah Chamber’s commitment to turning bilateral relations into actionable business opportunities.

Recognition of SCCI’s role in bilateral relations

The Malaysian delegation praised SCCI’s efforts to enhance cooperation and investment in strategic sectors, commending the Chamber’s role in supporting business development and promoting long-term collaboration across various fields of mutual interest.
