The IEF brings together energy ministers from producing, consuming, and transit nations around the world—including both OPEC and IEA members—to foster dialogue on energy policy, data transparency, and sustainable energy transitions. The IAC plays a pivotal role by providing real-world industry insights to guide these discussions.
The Industry Advisory Council serves as a key connector between global policymakers and energy executives. It supports the IEF’s Secretary General and Executive Board with operational perspectives on investment trends, market dynamics, technology, and transition strategies. The Council meets regularly to align its input with the IEF’s Programme of Work and ensure that ministerial deliberations remain grounded in industry realities.
Majid Jafar’s participation is expected to enrich the IAC’s work, especially on issues of energy access, emissions reduction, and economic development—particularly in the developing world. Jafar emphasized the importance of natural gas as a critical element of the energy transition.
“The global energy sector is navigating a period of profound transformation,” said Jafar.
“Ensuring reliable, affordable, and clean energy for all requires open dialogue between policymakers and industry. I’m honored Crescent Petroleum has joined the IEF IAC, and I look forward to contributing to this vital platform.”
Jassim Alshirawi, Secretary General of the IEF, welcomed Crescent Petroleum’s inclusion and praised Jafar’s leadership:
“Crescent Petroleum’s participation adds significant value to the inclusive dialogue between energy stakeholders. Majid Jafar’s deep industry knowledge and leadership will help ensure practical, evidence-based responses to today’s energy challenges.”
As the energy industry faces geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain shifts, and the urgency of decarbonisation, the IAC’s role has become more crucial than ever. Its emphasis on transparency, cooperation, and pragmatic solutions supports a more stable and sustainable global energy future.
