Sharjah24: The German national team fell to their Slovak hosts, 0-2, in the first round of Group A matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The German team began their journey in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in a disappointing manner after their surprising defeat against Slovakia with a score of 2-0 in the first round of Group A matches.

Slovakia owes its victory to goals from Atletico Madrid striker David Hancko (42) and David Streliak (55).

The German team was without their usual goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen due to injury, with Oliver Baumann stepping in. Defender Antonio Rüdiger returned to the starting lineup. However, coach Julian Nagelsmann missed several key stars due to injuries, including Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Tim Kleindienst, and defenders Nico Schlotterbeck and Benjamin Henrichs.
