Sharjah 24 – WAM: The UAE rescue team is actively working to extinguish widespread wildfires affecting several regions of the Republic of Albania. Their involvement reflects the UAE's strong commitment to international humanitarian support and disaster response.

28 aerial missions and 700 water drops conducted

Since their arrival, the team has conducted 28 specialised aerial missions using two Black Hawk helicopters. These missions included 700 precise water drops, utilising more than 1,298 tonnes of water. Their efforts have significantly contributed to containing the fires and preventing their further spread.

Overcoming harsh conditions

Despite facing extremely high temperatures and challenging mountainous terrain, the UAE rescue team continues its operations. Their work is carried out in close cooperation and ongoing coordination with the relevant Albanian authorities, ensuring the firefighting efforts are efficient and effective.

Operations span multiple affected regions

The team's mission began in the forests of Gramsh and Ballolli, as well as the coastal area of Vlorë and other locations. These operations are being carried out under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as part of the UAE's support for Albania in containing the wildfires.

Ongoing coordination and monitoring

Coordination meetings between the Emirati rescue team and Albanian officials are ongoing to develop effective strategies that will accelerate the pace of firefighting operations. At the same time, the team is conducting continuous field monitoring of areas where fires have already been extinguished to prevent them from reigniting
