Sharjah 24 – AFP: Manchester United failed to secure their first Premier League win of the season, settling for a 1-1 draw with Fulham on Sunday in the second round of the English Premier League. Despite taking the lead, United were unable to hold off a Fulham comeback at Craven Cottage.

Own goal gives United the lead
The visitors took the lead in the 58th minute when Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz accidentally deflected a header from United’s Lenny Yoro into his own net following a corner from Bryan M’Boumou. Fulham’s coach Marco Silva protested a possible foul in the build-up, but the goal stood without VAR intervention.

Smith Rowe secures Fulham’s equaliser
Fulham found their equalizer in the 73rd minute. Substitute Emile Smith Rowe tapped in from close range after a well-placed cross from Nigerian winger Alex Iwobi, just minutes after entering the game.

Missed opportunities for United
Manchester United created several scoring chances in the first half but failed to capitalize. Matheus Cunha struck the post early on, and captain Bruno Fernandes squandered a penalty opportunity in the 38th minute, shooting over the bar after VAR awarded the spot-kick.

Changes in United lineup
Coach Ruben Amorim made one change to the lineup that lost 1-0 to Arsenal in the opening round, starting Amad Diallo instead of Diogo Dalot. New signings M’Boumou and Matheus Cunha started in attack alongside Mason Mount.

Goalkeepers shine in first half
Both goalkeepers, Altay Bayindir for United and Bernd Leno for Fulham, delivered standout performances, making crucial saves to keep their teams in the game during a lively first half.
