O’Connor broke away in the final 15 kilometers to finish solo, crossing the line 1 minute and 45 seconds ahead of Slovenian race leader Tadej Pogačar. The defending champion extended his overall lead by 11 seconds over Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard, who finished third after briefly overtaking Pogačar before being passed 400 meters from the finish.
With three stages remaining, Pogačar appears on track to claim his fourth Tour de France title, having previously won in 2020, 2021, and 2024. A fourth win would tie him with Britain's Chris Froome and place him just one title behind all-time greats Anquetil, Hinault, Merckx, and Indurain.
