UAE Sailing Team wins top spot at 31st Al Bareh Regatta Bahrain

Sharjah 24: The UAE Modern Sailing Team claimed first place in the overall rankings at the 31st edition of the Al Bareh International Championship, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from June 19 to 23, 2025. The team secured a total of nine medals: 4 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze.

Gold medal achievements

The four gold medals were awarded to Mohammed Al Owais – ILKA 4 (Men’s), Hamad Al Muhairi – Optimist Junior, Marwa Al Hammadi – ILKA 4 (Women’s), and Doha Al Bishr – ILKA 6 (Women’s).

Silver and bronze medal wins

Silver medals were earned by Mohammed Al Hammadi – ILKA 6 (Men’s), Simon Hristov – ILKA 4 (Men’s), Alyazia Al Hammadi – ILKA 4 (Women’s), and Camelia Al Qubaisi – ILKA 6 (Women’s).

Additionally, Camelia Al Qubaisi won bronze in the U-19 ILKA 6 (Women’s) category.

Praise from UAE Sailing Federation President

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, congratulated the athletes and the technical and administrative teams. He praised their dedication and highlighted that the results reflect the continuous development of sailing in the UAE.

Dedication to the nation’s leadership

Sheikh Ahmed dedicated the team’s success to the UAE’s wise leadership, its people, and key institutions including the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic Committee, and various sports councils. He credited their continuous support as a key factor in the team’s achievement.

Acknowledgment of Bahrain's role

He also extended his congratulations to Sheikh Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Marine Sports Federation and the Arab Sailing Federation, for the successful hosting and organization of the championship in a distinguished and professional setting.
