Sharjah 24: Sharjah Media City (Shams) and FANN (Sharjah Media Arts for Youth and Children) focused on youth, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to foster media and creative development in Sharjah through joint projects targeting children and youth in media and the arts.

Agreement signed by leadership of both entities

The MoU was signed by His Excellency Rashid Abdullah Al Obaid, Director General of Shams, and Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director General of FANN, at Shams headquarters. Several officials and representatives from both sides attended the ceremony.

Strategic partnership to empower the next generation

His Excellency Rashid Al Obaid emphasised that the agreement aligns with Shams’s vision to expand strategic partnerships across the content creation industry. He described the MoU as a key step toward building an integrated platform that empowers young creators and opens doors in the media sector.

Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration, calling it a valuable addition to FANN’s programmes aimed at discovering and mentoring future media professionals, thereby reinforcing Sharjah’s reputation as a hub for creative youth.

Key areas of collaboration

The MoU outlines cooperation in several strategic areas, including sponsorship and media support for the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth, promotion of the festival through dedicated episodes of the “Shams Talk” podcast, hosting prominent figures in the media and arts industries, joint organisation of specialised workshops in film and media production, and creation of a platform for emerging talent in the UAE.

Support for Shams Studios and access to media services

The agreement also supports the promotion of the Shams Studios project by sharing production company data with FANN. Additionally, FANN will be included in the “Ghayah” package, granting access to discounted media services and commercial licensing through Shams.

Initiatives to foster cultural and social values

The MoU includes launching media and community initiatives to promote innovation and cultural awareness in Sharjah, aiming to strengthen the emirate’s social and creative fabric.

Five-year agreement with automatic renewal

The memorandum is valid for five years from the date of signing and will be automatically renewed, ensuring long-term collaboration between Shams and FANN.
