The session was moderated by Dr Hanadi Al Suwaidi, Director of Sharjah Cenre for Learning Difficulties, who delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the importance of future-oriented thinking in the government work environment. She emphasised the vital role of long-term planning in ensuring performance continuity and improving institutional efficiency.
The session covered several key themes, including the concept of future management, tools and strategies for long-term thinking, the role of innovation and technology in shaping the future, as well as leadership and future foresight. Dr Hanadi also showcased practical models and tools designed to help employees and institutions adopt a proactive approach to navigating change.
The session saw active engagement from attendees through comments and discussions that focused on the importance of developing future-ready competencies among government employees and promoting a culture of strategic planning within institutions.
This session is part of a broader series of dialogue meetings that serve as strategic platforms aimed at building a sustainable knowledge environment that aligns with the evolving nature of government work. These sessions are also designed to facilitate knowledge transfer and the exchange of ideas, thereby enhancing the readiness of human capital to meet present-day requirements and future challenges.
His Excellency Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Member of the Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources (SDHR), stated that the "Managing the Future" session falls within the department’s efforts to equip government personnel with long-term thinking skills and the ability to anticipate and prepare for change.
He stressed that future planning is no longer a luxury but a necessity to ensure institutional performance sustainability and to create meaningful societal impact. "At the SDHR, we believe that real investment lies in people and in their capacity to shape the future through the decisions they make today and their ability to steer the course of change," he concluded.
