Sharjah 24: Sharjah Municipality, represented by the Public Parking Department, concluded a business trip to the Federal Republic of Germany. During the visit, experts and specialists attended GITEX Europe (Berlin) to review global best practices applied in smart cities and learn about the most prominent innovations and new projects in the field of regulating public parking.

The trip also included visits to several German cities and specialised companies to enhance cooperation and exchange of expertise.

Showcasing successful experiences

In this context, Khalid bin Falah Al Suwaidi, Director of Customer Service, emphasised that Sharjah Municipality is keen to have a distinguished presence at various international fora, conferences, and exhibitions to showcase its successful experiences in various areas of municipal work, review best practices applied to provide high-quality and highly efficient services to the public and customers, and implement modern and advanced projects that enhance the municipality's role and its ongoing efforts to develop its work system and rely on digital transformation in service delivery.

Keeping pace with the latest developments

Hamed Al Qaed, Director of the Public Parking Department and head of the participating delegation, explained that the Municipality reviewed best practices in smart cities and visited several platforms participating in GITEX Europe (Berlin) to learn about its most prominent innovations and digital projects in the field of regulating public parking operations. This is particularly true as the Municipality seeks to keep pace with the significant development and urban and population growth in the emirate by introducing modern technologies to regulate paid public parking services and facilitate the public's experience.

Al Qaed reported that the trip to the Federal Republic of Germany included visits to several companies specialising in developing parking systems and manufacturing self-service machines, such as public parking fee collection devices. He also noted that companies specialising in developing and producing smart electronic and mechanical solutions, including smart parking solutions. Al Qaed also visited a company specialising in managing public parking using digital vehicles.

Hamed Al Qaed pointed out that the trip also included a visit to the mayor of Schönau am Königssee in Bavaria, Germany, where they were briefed on the experiences implemented at the town's tourist sites. They were also briefed on the Sharjah City Municipality's efforts in regulating public parking in the emirate, including its smart and digital solutions, diverse payment methods, and numerous options for using the service across all cities in the emirate.
