The decision applies to all paid parking spaces in Sharjah City, Kalba, Khorfakkan and Al Dhaid, particularly those identified by yellow signage, bringing them in line with blue-sign parking zones that already operate until midnight.
Public parking will continue to be free on Fridays and official holidays, except at locations designated as chargeable throughout the week and on official holidays.
Al Qaed said the move is in response to rising demand for public parking services and reflects the urban, demographic and tourism growth observed throughout the emirate.
He explained that the decision was based on extensive studies of parking usage patterns, occupancy rates and customer feedback, as well as benchmarking exercises.
According to the municipality, extending operating hours will improve parking availability, reduce misuse and increase parking turnover in commercial and high-demand areas.
The emirate currently has approximately 124,000 paid public car parks, with fees applicable from 8:00 am until midnight.
Al Qaed confirmed that seasonal subscription fees will remain unchanged, while subscribers will receive two additional hours of daily parking access, extending the exemption period from 14 to 16 hours.
