In his speech at the ceremony honouring the winners, His Excellency Professor Awad Al Khalaf emphasised that AQU, inspired by the vision of its founder, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and Founder of the University, seeks to provide students with life skills alongside academic knowledge. Al Khalaf pointed out that the university has launched unique initiatives such as the "Mahara Centre," the "University Art Studio," and practical training programmes, in addition to activities, events, and competitions that contribute to developing students' skills and honing their creativity.
Expansion over the years
Al Khalaf added that the "Artistic Radiances" Competition began its first edition at the universities level in the UAE, then expanded in its third edition to include universities in the Gulf Cooperation Council, leading to its current edition, which has become open to universities across the Arab world.
Supporting talents and innovators
Al Khalaf explained that the participating works formed a comprehensive artistic canvas under the umbrella of AQU, as part of its vision to support talents and innovators from across the Arab world.
In conjunction with the art exhibition, the Deanship of Student Affairs organised a specialised lecture on the history of Islamic decorative art, presented by Professor Ali Al Hammadi. He reviewed the development of decoration in Islamic heritage and the methods of its aesthetic application in visual arts.
