Sharjah 24 – Reuters: Manchester City scored twice in the final five minutes to earn a 2-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, moving them closer to Champions League qualification for next season. Nico O’Reilly and Mateo Kovacic were the heroes, striking late to break the deadlock.

City strengthen top-four position

With the win, City climbed to fourth place in the Premier League table with 58 points from 33 matches. They now sit four points clear of sixth-placed Chelsea and seventh-placed Aston Villa, though both rivals have a game in hand. The top five teams are set to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

O’Reilly and Kovacic seal the deal

O’Reilly opened the scoring by stabbing home from close range after a low cross by Matheus Nunes in the 85th minute. Minutes later, Kovacic ensured victory with a powerful strike from the edge of the box.

Everton held despite early threat

It was a tough battle for City, who struggled to find clear-cut chances for much of the match. Everton nearly took the lead in the first half when James Tarkowski’s header hit the post. The Toffees remain in 13th place with 38 points from 33 games.
