Sharjah 24 – Reuters: World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open after a hard-fought 7-5, 6-3 win over Australia's Alex de Minaur in the quarter-finals. The clay court tournament, part of the ATP 500 series, witnessed a thrilling battle between two of the season's top performers.

A challenging start for the Spaniard

Alcaraz faced early setbacks, losing his serve twice in the opening set before bouncing back to take control of the match. His resilience and powerful baseline game proved decisive in turning the tide.

Aiming for a third Barcelona title

With this victory, Alcaraz continues his quest for a third Barcelona Open title in four years. He missed last year’s edition due to injury but remains a strong contender on his favorite surface.

Semi-final showdown with Arthur Fils

Alcaraz will face France’s Arthur Fils in the semi-finals. Fils progressed after Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas was forced to retire from their match due to injury while leading 2-0 in the first set.
