Sharjah 24: Noura Ahmed Al-Mughni, Curator of the Sharjah Heritage Museum, confirmed that the museum celebrated World Heritage Day (WHD) Friday—an event held annually by the Sharjah Museums Authority. The celebration aimed to introduce the public to Emirati heritage and highlight its importance through a variety of cultural activities.

Highlighting the value of Emirati heritage

Al-Mughni emphasised that Emirati heritage is a treasured part of the UAE's identity, and the museum is committed to preserving and passing it on to future generations. The museum's program included cultural activities and live folkloric performances that showcased the richness and diversity of Emirati traditions.

Dialogue and workshops on traditional crafts

She added to “Sharjah 24” that the event featured multiple activities, including a dialogue session on traditional jewelry, its types, and significance. Visitors also participated in interactive workshops focused on traditional Emirati crafts, aligning with the museum’s theme for World Heritage Day.

Promoting cultural awareness and national identity

These interactive elements were designed to enhance public awareness of local heritage and reinforce national identity, attracting participants of all ages and promoting community involvement.

Focus on traditional jewelry

Al-Mughni noted the significance of traditional Emirati jewelry as a core element of cultural heritage. The event introduced attendees to various types of jewelry, their names, and traditional ways of wearing them—especially relevant as younger generations show growing interest in this artistic and cultural aspect.

Strong participation in educational activities

A large number of participants from the Sharjah Museums Authority contributed to the day’s success through their involvement in educational workshops, making the event both informative and engaging for the wider community.
