Strengthening communication and identifying needs
The visit, which marked the first official engagement since the election of the new Board of Directors, aimed to establish direct communication with fishermen, identify their challenges and needs, explore ways to improve services, and develop future strategies to strengthen the sector.
Attendees included His Excellency Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, Chairman of the SFRA; His Excellency Salem Al Mahraiz, Director of the SFRA Board members, and several specialists.
SFRA chairman emphasises commitment
During the meeting, Abu Ghazin highlighted the importance of the visit, stating: "This visit comes within the framework of the Authority's commitment to strengthening its partnerships with fishermen's cooperatives through direct communication and listening to their aspirations."
He also acknowledged the vital role of fishermen in preserving marine heritage, adding that the Authority is working closely with relevant entities to provide a safe and supportive work environment.
Key discussion points included enhancing internal work mechanisms within the cooperative, improving administrative and technical services for fishermen, and strengthening joint coordination to ensure the sector’s continuity.
The visit is part of a series of ongoing field engagements with cooperatives throughout Sharjah, aimed at building an integrated support system that promotes the professional and social well-being of fishermen.
