The meeting was attended by Ahmed Al Tazi, Ambassador of Morocco to the UAE, Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), representatives from the UAE Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy, and council members from both nations.
Al Owais remarked that holding the Council’s first session in Sharjah marks a new milestone in the robust and growing relationship between the UAE and Morocco. He highlighted the promising opportunities the Council presents for businesses and investors, supported by the active involvement of government entities and chambers of commerce from both countries.
Al Owais noted the UAE's proven expertise and diverse investment landscape, which pave the way for increased collaboration between Emirati and Moroccan business communities. He stressed that the Council’s meetings will serve as a foundation for a new phase of joint initiatives, bringing together top business leaders, investors, and major commercial entities from both sides.
Chakib Alj affirmed that the establishment of the Business Council is a result of joint efforts between CGEM and the Federation of UAE Chambers. He pointed to strong potential for growth in areas such as: tourism, infrastructure, agri-food industry, renewable energy, finance, and advanced technologies
Alj also praised the increasing number of Moroccan companies operating in the UAE and the rising Emirati investments in Morocco, reflecting a vibrant and evolving economic partnership.
The UAE-Morocco Business Council is co-chaired by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais (UAE side) and Anas Guennoun, Vice-President of CGEM’s International Affairs Committee (Moroccan side).
Both parties reviewed the Council’s future roadmap and action plan, emphasizing the importance of continued private sector cooperation. They called for further initiatives to strengthen connections between institutions and enterprises in both countries.
