SEWA launch 24 lighting projects across various areas of Sharjah

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) continues its efforts to develop and modernize the road lighting network as part of its strategic plan to improve infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of public lighting. During 2024, the authority implemented more than 19 lighting projects across various areas of Sharjah city, installing 4,640 lampposts, carrying out 51,379 maintenance operations, and installing cables totaling 206,396 meters in length. Work is also ongoing on other projects underway.

Engineer Ahmed Al Bas, Deputy Director of the Electricity Distribution Department, explained that more than 19 lighting projects have been implemented in various areas of Sharjah City, including lighting the road leading to the Ladies Park in Al Juraina and its parking spaces, and the internal roads of Al Siouh District - for the second phase. Lighting of the roads and bridges of Al Layyah Canal has been completed, as well as the new decorative lighting in the Palm Oasis - Al Majaz, Al Dhaid Street Bridges 9 and 10, the internal roads in Al Tilal City, the roads leading to and parking spaces in the Humanitarian Services City in the Brashi area, and additional lighting on the internal roads of the University City, the internal roads in the Al Hamriya area - West/East, Al Rahmaniya District, Al Azra, Al Ramtha, the road leading to the Muhadhdhab area, the road leading to the Al Shanouf area, the road leading to the Sayyida Khadija Mosque in the Al Waha area, the road leading to and parking spaces for the Ladies Park in Al Houma, the road leading to and parking spaces for the Al Manar Mosque and Park in the Al Manakh area, additional lighting on the internal roads of the University City, and lighting of the roads leading to and parking spaces for mosques in various areas of Sharjah. 

He explained that work is currently underway to implement a number of important projects, most notably lighting the roads leading to and parking at the Fort in the Faili area, with a completion rate of 70%; updating the lighting of the Aljada Road in the Muwailih area, with a completion rate of 10%; lighting the external road of the bridges on the Dhaid Road with a distinctive decorative design, with a completion rate of 5%; lighting the Khorfakkan tunnels, with a completion rate of 40%; lighting the internal roads of the al suyoh suburb - Phase 1, with a completion rate of 90%; and lighting the external road of the main office of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, with a distinctive decorative design, with a completion rate of 5%. 

He added that SEWA is continuing to implement its plan to illuminate all areas according to the best specifications, selecting the appropriate lighting type for each area, with varying pole lengths and innovative designs to ensure safety and security for road users and a civilized and aesthetic appearance in all areas.
