Sharjah 24: The First Late Abdul Rahim Jani Ramadan Tournament, organised by Sharjah Club in honour of the late Abdul Rahim Jani's contributions to Emirati sports, officially launched under the patronage of various sports and community figures.

Opening ceremony and key attendees

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Khamis Al Suwaidi, Advisor to the Court of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, and members of the Sharjah Sports Club Board of Directors, including Nasser Saeed bin Afsan and Ibrahim Al Jarwan. The event also included representatives from the deceased's family, dignitaries, and Sharjah Club leaders.

Tribute to Abdul Rahim Jani’s legacy

His Excellency Khalid Al Midfa delivered a speech recognising the tournament's role in honouring the deceased's support for sports. The Chairman of Sharjah Club emphasised that the tournament reflects loyalty to Abdul Rahim Jani’s legacy and aims to promote sportsmanship and positive competition among youth. The event is also aligned with the club's broader mission to foster community sports activities.

Family's gratitude and tournament atmosphere

Badr Jani, a representative of the deceased’s family, expressed gratitude to the Sharjah Club for organising the tournament and highlighted Abdul Rahim Jani’s vital role in the club’s history. The tournament began with a competitive atmosphere, featuring several youth teams. The final day on Sunday will see the crowning of the winning team and the honoring of all participants, reflecting the club's commitment to promoting sports and honoring those who have supported it.
