This unique tournament, organized by the Sports Activity Department of the UoS Deanship of Student Affairs, has drawn participants from a diverse spectrum of charitable entities, including the Emirates Red Crescent and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Charity Foundation, Sharjah Holy Quran and Sunnah Establishment, Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, Sharjah Islamic Bank, Dubai Awqaf, Dar Al Ber Society, Essa Group, Food Bank, Beit Al Khair Society in Dubai, and Al Ittihad Charity Foundation.
At the opening ceremony, His Excellency Prof. Al Naimiy lauded the participating organizations for their unwavering support of community service, youth development, and UoS student activities. He emphasized the tournament's role in cultivating positive competition among community institutions and conveyed warm wishes from His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University of Sharjah.
Prof. Eid Kanaan, Dean of Student Affairs, stressed that the event is a testament to the strong bonds between the University and local community organizations. He described the tournament as a catalyst for strengthening human connections and fostering a spirit of fair play in the unique atmosphere of Ramadan.
Captain Salah Taher Al Ameri, Head of the Sports Activity Department at the Deanship of Student Affairs explained that the week-long championship, organized under the expert guidance of certified trainers, will see teams competing in a league format. The opening ceremony drew a distinguished crowd, including senior university officials, sports club directors, former UAE national football team stars, and a sizeable audience from the local community underscoring the event's significance in the local sporting calendar.
As the tournament unfolds, it promises not only to showcase athletic talent but also to reinforce the values of charity and community engagement that are central to the spirit of Ramadan.
