Sharjah24: Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs (SDIA) has inaugurated the "Sahabi Umair bin Abi Waqqas" Mosque in Al Sajaa industrial area. The mosque was built at the expense of the Sharjah Government and features a modern architectural style, accommodating up to 600 worshippers.
The opening of the mosque is part of the department's Ramadan plan to inaugurate 20 mosques across various cities and suburbs of the emirate, aiming to meet community needs, facilitate the performance of rituals and worship, and provide an inspiring spiritual environment. It also seeks to promote Islamic values through lessons, lectures, and other religious programs organised by the department.
The mosque was constructed on a total land area of 2,503 square meters, including the prayer hall and service facilities such as ablution areas, restrooms, and an imam's residence. Environmentally friendly materials and sustainable standards were used in its construction, along with energy-efficient lighting systems.
