Mleiha Club inaugurates Ramadan Institutions Championship

Sharjah 24: The Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club has launched its Mleiha Ramadan Championship for institutions in the central region, in a lively atmosphere attended by key officials and a large crowd of spectators. The opening event, held yesterday evening at the club’s outdoor courts, was graced by His Excellency Musbah Saif Awadh, Director of Mleiha Municipality, Mr. Salem Rashid Al Ketbi, the club's Secretary General, Mr. Hamad Tamim Al Ketbi, Board Member and Chairman of the Individual Games Committee, Mr. Rashid Mohammed Rashid, Head of the Team Sports Committee, and other sports and administrative figures, along with an enthusiastic audience.

Exciting pre-match activities


Before the competition began, attendees enjoyed a variety of entertainment activities, including a laser shooting contest and a football target game, both of which saw great participation from the crowd. Additionally, several prize draws added further excitement to the event.

 

Match Results


In the opening match, Mleiha Municipality's team secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Victoria, with Ahmed Hamdi Mohammed from Mleiha Municipality being awarded the Best Player prize for his outstanding performance. In the second match, Mleiha Municipality delivered a dominant display, defeating Al Ghafa 7-0, with Ahmed Ibrahim Al Desouki from Mleiha Municipality receiving the Best Player award.

 

Tournament Structure


The championship features eight teams, divided into two groups. Group A consists of Ml
eiha Municipality, Victoria, Al Ghafa, and Mleiha Municipality, while Group B includes Al Dhaid Municipality, Civil Defence, Mleiha Youth, and the Department of Public Works.

 

Looking ahead


Captain Badr Al Dharouni, the tournament supervisor, stated that the event provides a valuable opportunity to promote sportsmanship and healthy competition among institutions. He praised the strong performances from the teams right from the start. Mr. Salem Rashid Al Ketbi, Secretary General of Mleiha Club, expressed his
happiness at the strong turnout for the tournament and confirmed that the club aims to enhance connections between institutions in the central region through such events, while also fostering sports activities in a fun and competitive environment.

 

The tournament will continue in the coming days, with excitement building for the crucial matches that will decide the teams progressing to the final rounds. The final match of the championship is scheduled for Wednesday, 19th March 2025.
